YU Yureka vs Xiaomi Redmi Note:Best phablets under Rs. 10,000

The phablet market in India is really on the high. With the craze for large screen sizes spiraling and the new devices prices falling, the smartphone lovers should be on cloud nine, as many new phablets pour into the Indian market. The best thing however, is that some new awesome phablets are even being offered for as low as under 10k. These wonderful and affordable phablets are surely a treat for the Indian smartphone aficionados.
The Chinese mobile maker Xiaomi created a huge wave when it entered Indian market in July this year. Xiaomi had its own way for months with its great affordably priced devices that offers premium looks and good functionality. However, now it has got an able competitor.
Indian mobile maker Micromax has recently launched its Yu Yureka phablet, which with its good specs and features goes head long with the RedMi Note.
While the Micromax Yu Yureka has earned lots of praises already, does it fair against the Xiaomi RedMi Note? While the Yureka is not yet physically present in the market, lets compare the two as per the specs on paper.

Design & build quality
The RedMi Note and Yureka are hugely different when these aspects are concerned. The RedMi Note is rather heavy weighing 199 grams and bulky with a thickness of 9.5mm. Comparatively, the Yureka is lighter weighting 155 grams and sleeker with a thickness of 8.8mm. The size and weight difference really matter when using big devices on daily basis. The Yureka should also fit well and feel in hands as compared against the RedMi Note.
The RedMi Notes glossy plastic seems to be rather tacky; while the Yurekas matt finish plastic body definitely looks better. Both the devices though budget offerings offer good built quality, but the RedMi Note feels sturdier with slightly better finishing.
On the other hand, the Yureka comes with a better and sleeker design.    Display
The RedMi Note and the Yureka, both offer large 5.5 inch display. Again, both share the same 720p screen resolution. As per the brief usage of the Yureka, the RedMi Notes screen seems to be better. Both devices offer great sharp and are nicely bright display, but the RedMi Note has better color reproduction.

Specifications
Again the Yureka is not available in the market yet for a thorough performance comparison. However as per specs on paper, the Yureka sure features a better processor than the RedMi Note. The Yureka comes powered by a Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor set at a speed of 1.5GHz.
On the other hand, the RedMi Note packs in a Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor ticked at 1.6GHz.
Though the number difference is really not expected to matter in real world performance, the Yurekas Snapdragon 615 is a new chipset and offers many improvements for overall performance boost.
Both The Yureka and the RedMi Note get the support of 2 GB of RAM. The Yureka comes with 16GB of inbuilt memory as against the lower 8GB memory of the RedMi Note.
The RedMi Note has a more powerful 3200mAh battery pack, while the Yureka draws its juice from a 2500mAh battery pack. While the talk time details are not out as yet, the Yurekas battery is expected to offer less backup as compared to the RedMi Nots owing to a faster processor.
Both the Yureka and the RedMi Note offers all the latest connectivity options including 4G support.
Software
Here again theres a lot of dissimilarity between these two otherwise quite similar phablets. The Yureka runs on the CyanogenMod 11, which is an operating system that is essentially based on the Android KitKat. On the other hand, the RedMi Note runs on the dated MiUI 5, which is an OS that is based on the older Android Jelly Bean OS. While both the operating systems offer huge customization flexibilities and are feature-rich, the latest CyanogenMod is clearly a better choice as the Android KitKat offers better user interface as well as a lot of enhancements. However, MiUI also has a bright side to it as it is more colorful and appealing. From the real world usage, the older OS based MiUI on the Xiaomi devices actually looks and feels more sophisticated than that of the newer CyanogenMod OS on the Micromax Yureka.
Then again, Xiaomi is an experience implementer of the MiUI for several years and is thus more briefed about the OS and has done several improvements on it as well. On the other hand, CyanogenMod is an absolutely new experience for Micromax as the Yureka is its first phone based on this OS.
The CyanogenMod OS will offer smooth and faster updates on the stock Android. Micromax has also promised on the update to the next version of CyanogenMod based on the Android Lollipop very soon. Xiaomi will also offer the MiUI 6, but it is thought that the updates will take time.
Camera
The RedMi Note and the Yureka both come with a great 13 MP primary rear camera. Again, both the phablets offer 5 MP front facing or selfie snappers. However, only similar specs dont count. In real world, the RedMi Notes shooters offer really impressive performance. It is not expected from the Yureka to offer such good camera abilities as that of the RedMi Note, but it is very much possible as well. In that case, Micromax will surely be praised. However, with the apprehension of an inferior camera quality of the Yureka, the RedMi Note has an upper hand for now.

Conclusions
For its price, the Xiaomi RedMi Note is really impressive. The new Micromax YU Yurek surely has great potential to challenge the RedMi Note, but it is not expected to be a knockout blow. Until the Yureka really proves it in real world performance, the RedMi Note may keep its crown of the best budget phablet under Rs.10,000. However, the Yureka costs Rs.1,000 less than its arch rival RedMi Note. While the price difference is not much, it may be a better value for money phablet along with its better 16GB inbuilt storage and faster processor.
